Privacy

A small game. Small data.

Effective August 12, 2026

Alphabet Slice works without an account. Your game progress and streak stay in your browser unless you choose to share a result.

Information stored on your device

Alphabet Slice uses your browser’s local storage to remember onboarding, an unfinished puzzle, completed Daily results, streak history, assistance use, and game preferences. This information remains on the browser and device where you played. We do not receive it as an account profile, and it does not automatically move to another device.

Words processed during play

To check a guess, offer a suggestion, or reveal an answer, the game sends the current puzzle, range, and guessed word to our game service. This information is used to return that move and is not added to product analytics or saved as an account history.

Information processed to deliver the site

The site is delivered through Cloudflare. Like other website infrastructure providers, Cloudflare processes technical request information needed to route traffic, protect the service, and diagnose reliability or security problems. This can include IP address, browser and device information, requested URL, timestamps, and response status.

Analytics

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and real-world page performance. Cloudflare describes this service as privacy-first and says its browser beacon does not use cookies, local storage, session storage, IndexedDB, or personal data.

We also collect limited product events, such as whether onboarding was completed, a Daily was started or solved, a suggestion was used, or a result was shared. The game creates a random installation identifier on your device; our server hashes it before storing an event. Product analytics events do not contain your guessed words, the hidden answer, puzzle boundaries, free-form text, advertising identifiers, or an account identity.

Sharing

Alphabet Slice shares only when you activate the share control. The intended result text contains the puzzle number, number of guesses, streak, and whether a suggestion was used. It includes abstract directional marks for each accepted guess, but not the answer, your guessed words, or the puzzle boundaries. Your device’s share sheet or clipboard is controlled by your browser and operating system.

Cookies and advertising

Alphabet Slice does not use advertising pixels or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, this notice and any required consent controls will be updated before the new technology is enabled.

Your choices

You can remove locally stored game data through your browser’s site-data settings. Private-browsing modes may erase progress when the private session ends. Blocking local storage may prevent streaks or unfinished games from being saved, but the current puzzle should remain playable.

Changes

Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new effective date. The public beta does not currently offer a support inbox.
